Mr. Nadeem Hussain taught me that your startup doesn\’t have to be an entirely new concept. Instead, it can be an improvement upon something or something very similar but better done (marketing, design, etc). Before going to his talk, I felt like I\’d only be a true entrepreneur if I created something that\’s never been done before. While this has been mentioned in Entrepreneurship class, its different hearing it from someone who did it and succeeded.
Another thing I learned from Mr. Hussain is that entrepreneurship isn\’t just limited to the United States. While it\’s clear that you can start a business somewhere else, it never occurred to me just how much of an untouched market exists in certain regions such as Pakistan. Just hearing that there were 182 million Pakistanis without access to bank accounts shows how we take so many things for granted that can be tremendous opportunities in other regions. I\’m very thankful that I got to hear Mr. Nadeem Hussain speak and I hope that we get more entrepreneur guest speakers in the future.
